Welcome to my Photo Albums

I am a keen Amateur photographer who came about the hobby by accident. I had never been interested in photography before but bought a little 'Happy Snappy' Canon S50 to take away on our 'trip of a lifetime' to the United States. The bug caught, as quick as that, and before the end of the trip I had upgraded to the newly released Sony F828, I was on my way.

What a learning curve, and I am still only a few paces up that steep hill but really enjoying the adventure. I am now on my 4th Camera (it would be third but dropped and broke that one a Canon 20D) a Canon EOS 30D. Rather than go to a top end camera (no point if you cant drive it) I chose to 'invest', yes Invest because dam they are expensive! in two top range lens's. I have the Canon 24-105 IS L and the Canon 28-300 IS L, they are stunning and well pleased I took the leap.

I still have the original S50 and still use it regularly, it hangs round my neck at all event shoots ready for the quick snappy. The Sony went to a great home with two friends who get great use out of it. The 20D is in the repair shop as I type but I think it is dead. I don't think it was the drop that killed it I think it was the water in the puddle it landed in!!!!


I have a fascination with maps and try to GeoCode (embed GPS Latitude and Longitude) in all my pictures so you can see exactly where they are taken and I try to be as accurate as I can with the placement so by plotting them on Google Earth adds a further dimension to the photography. There are some wonderful features on this site, the 'Mapping' most of my pictures are coded so you can see where I was standing when I took the picture. (Which is why I got into Flickr its mapping is a bit easier to use and more instant as you do not need to download Google Earth!)

I would really welcome comments, criticism and advice on my pictures to help me improve. The SmugMug DGRIN is the best forum out there by far and I have picked up some wonderful tips from here. Also, SmugMug has by far the best of the best in Photographers as members. I am in awe of some of the work I see on this site and it really inspires me to try and improve my skills. I have only recently moved over to dedicated RAW shooting and I thank the members here that helped me convert, now I am learning to 'Develop' all over again!

I have a lot of fun, no, not all my pictures are 'Pin' but I enjoyed taking them. I hope you enjoy browsing them.
