Don Garlits First Dragster, The Flathead
Flathead dragster with a Chrysler-powered 1939 Ford coupe. The engine was a 1954 Chrysler Hemi with 331 cubic inches. The Hemi had lots of torque and was perfect for towing on the two-lane roads we had in the 1950s.
